Juice Fasting

Having embraced raw foods, & fruit smoothies, and giving up a coffee addiction  (almost 2 months now!)
I decided it was time to try a juice fast. I am happy to report to you that I am on Day 5 of my Juice fast and feeling great! :)  I started on a Friday so I would have the weekend to get through the detoxifcation process.
The first 2 days were full of aches and cravings. Day 3 was full of highs and  lows. I think I really detoxed that day because the cravings hit hard and I was extremely exhausted. Day 4 was so easy it didn't feel like a fast. Day 5 is the present and I am having periods of energy and euphoria. When I notice myself become tired or weak I just take a sip of juice. I am currently using Naked juice, and Bolthouse farms juices. I tried the juicer this weekend but it was pretty messy and I found to make this work with my lifestyle (work, kids) the pre-purchased bottles of juice from the produce/juice section of the grocery were a lifesaver. Its not about being perfect and juicing all your own fruits and veggies, its about making small changes in our diet and lifestyle that can improve health. If its more convienent to buy juice than juice yourself , by all means do whatever it takes to keep you away from the Standard American Diet and Fast Food! The detox is difficult but it is well worth the natural high and the cleansing your body receives from being bathed in nutrients.
So today I want to challenge everyone to try a juice fast, even if only for a day.  100% natural juice, NOT from concentrate, no sugar added!   If you can't do the fast (due to health reasons) try something simpler like an all fruit day or an all veggie day.

Lets get Nutty

I am a Nut for Nuts! Nuts of all kinds, variety is the spice of life. You want to get raw and natural nuts whenever possible, avoid the roasted and flavored varieties as they are packed with sodium and sometimes MSG-Yikes! If you worry about the fat, try Pistachio's they have the lowest fat among the nuts. So many vitamins and minerals are packed into the little nutritional powerhouse called a NUT; potassium, manganese,  & vitamin E to name a few. Nuts are great for Heart Health and help curb your cravings for junk food. I challenge you to replace your candy bar or snack cake with an ounce of nuts every day. One small change in your diet is the start to be coming YOU- ONLY BETTER!

Let's get Naked!

I just got Naked, at work. I enjoyed my first Naked "Green Smoothie". It looks weird but take a sip and "WOW" it was really quite tasty. Feeling bloated and disgusted by our SAD (Standard American Diet) I decided to have a stripped down lunch, something light and refreshing. The "Green Machine" by Naked Juice is 100% juice with a shot of wheat grass, spirulina and blue algae, and it makes a great stripped down lunch or snack. It feels good to get Naked sometimes, strip down your daily routine and daily meals. Make it basic and simple. Mono eating is a great way to get Naked too. Pick any fruit and eat just that fruit, next meal or snack pick another fruit.
Lots of people are getting Naked these days. It has become rather trendy. No one is just Vegan any longer, people are Raw, Fruitarian and Mono eaters just to name a few. No one way of eating is right for everyone. You have to educate yourself and find what works best for you personally. One thing is for certain, you will always have a new diet trend around the corner.Ultimately the best way to be healthy is to eat natural unprocessed foods. I'm not talking about weight loss, or weight gain, I am talking about being Naked. Food that is Clean and Pure (unprocessed) and naked, for YOU- Only Better!

"B"eautiful Nails

I can Nail down your vitamin deficiency by glancing at your fingernails. "B"eautiful nails come from taking your B vitamins.  Glance down at your hands now. Do you have moons at the base of each nail? Are your nails smooth or bumpy with ridges? If you are low in B12 you will not see a moon at the base of your nail and you might see ugly ridges, Feel the top of your nail- is it smooth to your touch? Be Accountable

Envision two glass bowls. One bowl is filled with colorful fruit and vibrant fresh vegetables, a rainbow from the garden making the transparent glass vibrant and beautiful. The other glass bowl is filled with potato chips, white bread, a slice of leftover pizza, french fries, a hot dog and some ice cream. This glass looks like a greasy, gooey mess.

Now envision yourself as a glass bowl, everything you put inside will be seen on the outside. What will people see when they look at you? Will you be bright, beautiful and vibrant or a gooey, greasy mess?
You may not be transparent but everything you put on the inside is reflected in your outward appearance.

I challenge you today to envision yourself as a glass bowl. Be accountable for everything you put into your mouth. I hope the glass bowl reflects You- Only Better!

Vitamin C - Your New Best Friend

Picture the little old traveling salesman in his wagon offering you the "Miracle cure". The cures of the late 1800's and early 1900's often included alcohol and cocaine. If it didn't cure you at least you forgot what was ailing you.
I am no traveling salesman but I can tell you the truth about a real "miracle drug". Vitamin C is a miraculous antioxidant and when taken in large enough doses it can heal and cure many ailments. Some of you may have heard of Linus Pauling and his research, he actually used Mega doses of Vitamin C intravenously to cure Cancer.
